Angel

I step out into the street
it is raining
I don’t hide from it
I look up at the sky
arms spread
I flinch
something is at the end of the street
a woman in white
her pale skin covered with a white gown
red lips, black hair
it’s still raining, but she was not wet
she walks toward me
time and space are lost
with those red lips, she speaks
a whisper
but her words cut through the rain like a lapping flame
“Your life, a dawn
walk into the future stead fast
because your life like its own dawn
and shall bring the future like the sun to
this world.
See the power of your life.”
With this she opens her hands
in each there is a symbol
a star with a circle around it
I open my hands
“See”
I see the same marking in my hands
she then opens her mouth to the sky
arms and palms out spread
a great light bursts from
her mouth and streaks across the sky
it knocks me down
when I reopen my eyes
she is gone
she is my angel
she let me find my eyes
and as the sun rises
I see the dawn
