Woman on the Metro

Standing upon the worn seat
Of the hot humid metro car
Hair combed around by the unnatural wind
Found inside the tunnel, outside the window
One of those windows that where
Made to keep people from reaching out
And jumping
We stop at the station
She pulls her head in
Looking around with wild eyes
And knotted hair
Thoughts flash of a wild animal
The buzzer sounds
And the pneumatic doors slam
The train moves forward faster and faster
Down the track
Her eyes now focused
On the lightless tunnel ahead
Searching for the next station
